The Queen's Birthday Honours List 2019

From humanitarian work, through mental health support to the Armed Forces, to responding to the nerve agent attacks last year - 65 regular and reserve soldiers and officers of the British Army are being recognised in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours list. WOMEN IN GROUND CLOSE COMBAT (WGCC).

On 08 July 2016, the Prime Minister announced that the Government was to lift the exclusion on women serving in Ground Close Combat (GCC) roles. Royal ArmouredCorps units were opened to women in 2016, followed by the RAF Regiment in September 2017. Since November 2016, the British Army has around 35 women either serving in the Royal Armoured Corps or being trained to join. During Dec 2019 to Jan 2020, Major Alex Price is planning to achieve a world first and traverse the length of the Pyrenees in winter, non-stop, unsupported.Major Alex Price, a serving officer in The Rifles, will negotiate the 700km of mountains by ski mountaineering, surviving off the equipment he will carry.Alex will be given the time off by the Army to conduct this expedition and won't be on dut
